Marcelo Kohan, Principal Architect, AIA
Marcelo Kohan is a registered Architect, licensed in New York & New Jersey. He's a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). His experience lies in both residential and commercial architecture.
Marcelo Kohan was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After finishing a year of architectural school in Buenos Aires, he moved with his family to the United States, and continued his studies at New York City Technical College, where he received an Associate Degree in Architecture Technology. He then attended Pratt Institute, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Architecture. He is married, has two children and resides in Long Island, New York.
As a student, he was awarded 2nd place in a National Talent Search contest, that provided him a scholarship to Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York, from which he graduated with honors in 1989. Since then, he has been working constantly for various large firms throughout New York, where he participated in several projects, including single & multi-family residential, commercial & institutional.
Some of the well known firms where Marcelo Kohan has worked, include: The Spector Group (Long Island, N.Y.) Costas Kondylis, N.Y., N.Y., SLCE Architects (N.Y., N.Y.), and Fakler, Eliason & Porcelli Architects (Queens, N.Y.). At the latter firm, his designs helped the team to win several awards from the Queens Building Association.
Besides his regular place of work, Marcelo was an adjunt professor, teaching architectural courses at New York City Technical College. His sense of responsibility, dedication, and leadership became his trademark, and won him recognition amongst his peers and clients. A strong desire to have more creative freedom and greater client interaction, has led him to take on several solo projects over the years, until he decided to launch his own firm, Delargent Design in 2011.
